We have many Turkey Vultures in town lately and they soar over the playground often. I taught the kindergartners how Turkey Vultures mostly eat dead animals. They are very large birds with a wing span shaped like the letter V. When they fly they are tip-py unlike the
Bald Eagle with his straight wings that are not tip-py. Turkey Vultures make a hissing sound. They don't have any feathers on their head. The Turkey Vultures will be
migrating south soon as they are not equipped to eat frozen carrion/dead animals. There is no need to be afraid of this huge bird as they are harmless.
Here are some of the kids trying to soar like a vulture. |
